MBP are delighted to announce that reigning BTCC champion, Jake Hill will return to lead the team’s on-track efforts as he looks to retain his title in 2025. A winning combination, the alliance will see Jake once again behind the wheel of a WSR-run BMW 330 M Sport - a partnership that has been so potent since 2022.
2024 saw Jake charge to the driver’s title in sublime fashion. The Kent-based driver would collect eight wins in a superb season-long display, his highest-ever total for a BTCC campaign. This impressive stat, coupled with Jake collecting 17 podiums, saw him ending the season with 421 points after an intense final-day battle with title rival Tom Ingram.
The 2024 season was the pinnacle of a hard-fought 11 year BTCC journey for Jake, who had battled immensely hard to even be on the grid in the fledgling stages of both his racing and subsequent BTCC career.
Jake’s debut in the BTCC would come in 2013, and in the subsequent years leading up to 2020, he would collect his first win in 2019 and take several trips to the podium but ultimately would struggle to achieve his ultimate goal of sustained performance at the very top of the championship. Which was impacted by a combination of factors such as a limited budget and running with less-established teams, limiting him from reaching the heights he knew he was capable of.
Looking to take the biggest forward step in his career yet, Jake signed for MB Motorsport and MBP in 2020. This step would see him joining the newly established BTCC outfit as it looked to make an ever-lasting impression on the championship by challenging those at the very top, and Jake would help spearhead this both on the track. Mark Blundell, CEO and Founder of MBP, was well aware of Jake’s talent behind the wheel of touring car machinery, having been stablemates during the 2019 BTCC season. From that moment on, his relationship with MBP would flourish.
Since Jake joined the MBP driver ranks, his BTCC career has undergone a steep upward trajectory. The move immediately heralded success as he got behind the wheel of the championship and race-winning cars through MB Motorsport’s partnerships with AmD Tuning and Motorbase, which allowed Jake to beat his previous best championship finish of P15 with P7 in 2020 and even better to P5 in 2021.
MB Motorsport would then combine with the highly regarded West Surrey Racing in 2022 to see Jake take the wheel of a BMW 330e M Sport, and in the seasons that followed, Jake would claim consecutive third-place finishes in the drivers’ standings, bettering his win tally with each passing year. Across the past three seasons with WSR, Jake has collected a mighty 16 wins, 42 podiums and three pole positions.
Alongside this, Jake has benefited extensively from the expertise and reputation of MBP’s talent management approach, allowing him to maximise his on-track performances. 2024 saw this in full flow, with the man management and guidance of mentor, Mark Blundell and knowledge of Motorsport Advisor, Gary Paffett, a 2x DTM Champion, proving pivotal to his success as he stormed to the title.
Heading into 2025, Jake looks back fondly on his time with MBP so far and is raring to get the BTCC season underway:
“My journey with MBP has been a brilliant one, and I am delighted to be remaining with the team as we look to embark on yet another BTCC season together. Since I first met Mark back in 2019, even as a teammate, it was clear he had a wealth of knowledge and experience that was invaluable to my development as a driver. Signing for MBP back in 2021 was a decision I have never questioned, and ever since, we have risen to the very top. Without a doubt, the support of the entire team at MBP has been pivotal to my success as a driver, allowing me to focus solely on maximising my performance on the track.”
“As we now enter our fourth year together, I cannot wait to get the 2025 season underway with the entire MBP team backing me and long may this fantastic relationship continue as I look to defend my BTCC crown!”
Mark Blundell, CEO & Founder of MBP, echoes Jake’s thoughts as preparations for the 2025 season get underway:
“We are delighted to be continuing our relationship with Jake as we head towards yet another BTCC season together. Winning the title in 2024 is something I will never forget, and we achieved our ultimate goal, which we outlined when Jake joined the MBP driver management stable back in 2021. Ever since my time with Jake as a teammate, his talents as a driver were clear to see, and when we had the opportunity to get Jake involved with both the MB Motorsport and MBP operations, we snapped up the opportunity.”
“With each passing year, Jake has grown and grown as a driver from a budding young racer to now one who has achieved his ultimate dream. Supporting him on this journey has been a real privilege, and we cannot wait to get back out on track in 2025 to defend the drivers’ title and collect even more accolades together.”
