MBP is delighted to announce today, Tuesday 13th August 2024, that Simon Lakin has joined its Board of Directors as a non-executive director as the relationship-driven sports marketing agency continues its exciting growth plan.

Simon enjoyed a distinguished career as Group Finance Director of the Theo Paphitis Retail Group, playing a key role in the development and growth of the business across a 33 year period between 1990 and 2023 before moving to his current non-executive director position within the Group.

The MBP Board of Directors are delighted to welcome Simon into the role, which comes as the agency looks to further develop its already impressive standing as a leading figure in the sports marketing industry. The UK-based agency has enjoyed a remarkable rise in recent years; from a market-leader within motorsport talent management to a diverse and innovative sports marketing group encompassing all things talent, digital, events and partnerships.

2024 has continued to see MBP drive forward results and scale new heights with some of the world’s most prominent professional racing drivers as well as strengthen their relationships and activations with reputable brands and organisations including the likes of HP, Intel, Gallagher, Convera and Howdens Joinery to name just a few.

Simon is well known to MBP through his previous roles and joins the company’s existing Board of Directors including Chairman Theo Paphitis and CEO Mark Blundell to further accelerate the business’ growth.

Expressing his excitement at the new role, Simon said: “I have admired the principles and work of MBP as a business from afar for a number of years now, and have a keen interest in motorsport, so to have the opportunity to play an active role in it’s exciting future is one that I am very grateful for and motivated by. It is a business with real energy and this has been illustrated by their success in recent years and the loyalty and continued growth of their client portfolio.”

Chairman of MBP, Theo Paphitis added: “As a Board of Directors, we are thrilled to welcome Simon into our business formally. From his previous roles, I know the level of strategic insight and planning that Simon will bring to this role which is perfect timing as MBP continues to scale at pace.”

Finally, Mark Blundell, CEO of MBP echoed: “I am proud to welcome Simon to MBP. We have known Simon for many years and built a brilliant relationship with him through his work. I have no doubt that he will be an invaluable support to the business as we continue to go from strength to strength.”
